Behind the Scenes of an Independent Verification Organization (IVO)

Last month, Fathom hosted our first “tabletop” roleplaying exercise with the technical team at Transluce. We brought together experts across disciplines, from machine learning and political science, to tort law and philosophy, to cybersecurity and mental health, to test out and refine the Independent Verification Organization (IVO) process and design. Over a full day, we had participants model the verification process and then engage in a process discussion about two concrete cases: first, the generation of vulnerable code and second, the generation of material encouraging self-harm.
